Step-by-Step Preparation

1. Prepare the Base

Heat the olive oil in a large, shallow paella pan or wide skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and red bell pepper. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the grated tomatoes, smoked paprika, and saffron threads. Let the mixture cook for another 2 minutes to release flavors.

2. Cook the Rice
