Apple crisp is a classic dessert loved by many for its warm, comforting flavors and easy preparation. This recipe features a crunchy oat topping that perfectly complements the tender, baked apples. It’s perfect for a quick dessert after dinner or a cozy weekend treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Fuji), peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Oat Topping

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased 9-inch baking dish.

In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the apple crisp warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence. It pairs well with a cup of tea or coffee.
