Jalapeño poppers are a popular appetizer known for their spicy kick and creamy filling. They are perfect for parties, gatherings, or a flavorful snack. Making them at home allows you to customize the spice level and ingredients to suit your taste.
Ingredients Needed
- 10 fresh jalapeño peppers
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 4 slices bacon (optional)
- Cooking spray
Step-by-Step Preparation
Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Carefully slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes for less heat, or keep some seeds for extra spiciness.
In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
Using a spoon or piping bag, fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture. If using bacon, wrap each stuffed jalapeño with a half slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray and place the stuffed jalapeños on it. Top each with panko bread crumbs for added crunch.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy (if using) and the peppers are tender.
Serving Suggestions
Allow the jalapeño poppers to cool slightly before serving. They are delicious on their own or with a side of ranch or sour cream for dipping. These spicy treats are sure to be a hit at any gathering!
